Professional Profile

Dr Smotra is currently working as a full time consultant obstetrician and gynaecologist and Early pregnancy and Acute Gynaecology Lead at Walsall Hospital NHS Trust.

Dr Smotra completed her medical degree in 2002 and has been working in obstetrics and gynaecology since 2004. She trained in obstetrics and gynaecology within the West Midlands region, with special interest in Acute gynaecology conditions, Early pregnancy / Gynaecology ultrasound, ambulatory office gynaecology (outpatient hysteroscopy, colposcopy, ultrasound) and benign gynaecology (open and minimal access surgery). 

She performs and has expertise in rapid access One stop post-menopausal bleeding clinic, Heavy periods clinics, Ovarian cysts clinic, Early pregnancy and acute gynaecology scan clinic apart from general gynaecology clinics and gynaecology theatres at Walsall Manor Hospital. 

Dr Smotra is actively involved in teaching and training medical students and obstetrics and gynaecology trainees. She has led regional and local teaching programs for obstetrics and gynaecology junior doctors. 

She has also led the Practical obstetrics multi-professional training program ( PROMPT) for doctors, midwives and other maternity team members to be safer and more effective.

She is a clinical examiner for medical students. 

Dr Smotra has published several scientific papers and presented at regional, national and international conferences.

She has active interest in clinical governance to provide safe patient care and has been gynaecology governance lead.

Dr Smotra is passionate about Women’s health in all phases of their lives, from reproductive age to menopause.

Dr Smotra endeavours  to listen attentively to her patient's concerns and provide them with a thorough explanation of their condition and treatment options. 

Her motto is to give women the voice for their own health, listen to them and facilitate their decisions for what is best, effective and personalised for them. 

Personal Profile

I am married to a local GP and am a mother to two young boys . I practice mindfulness and yoga. I enjoy the little things in life and my time is best spent around my family.
